Our Programs

Making 1325 Count at the Grassroots Level

his program brings the principles of United Nations Security Council Resolution 1325 (UNSCR 1325) to the community level by focusing on women's participation in peace and security. Through workshops, training, and dialogue forums, RWPL equips grassroots women with the knowledge and skills to advocate for their inclusion in decision-making processes related to peacebuilding and conflict resolution. The initiative ensures that global policies resonate and create tangible impacts within local contexts.

VAWG Mitigation

The Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) Mitigation program focuses on preventing and responding to gender-based violence in conflict-prone areas. RWPL collaborates with local communities, law enforcement, and healthcare providers to establish safe spaces for survivors, enhance access to justice, and create awareness about the effects of VAWG. This initiative aims to build a culture of zero tolerance toward violence against women and girls.

Peace Initiative Kenya (PIK)

In partnership with national and local stakeholders, this initiative seeks to strengthen community-driven peacebuilding efforts. The program fosters inter-community dialogue, trains women and youth in conflict resolution, and addresses the underlying causes of violence. By emphasizing local ownership of peace processes, PIK helps reduce tensions and promotes lasting harmony.

Sexual Reproductive Health Empowerment and Rights (SERHER)

SERHER aims to improve women and girls' access to sexual and reproductive health services and information. It also works to eliminate stigma surrounding reproductive health, promoting informed decision-making and the realization of sexual and reproductive rights.

The program integrates conflict resolution strategies with gender-sensitive approaches to foster a peaceful and equitable environment.

Recognizing the need for gender parity in governance, this program prepares women to actively participate in the 2027 elections as voters, candidates, and decision-makers. RWPL provides leadership training, mentorship, and resources to women aspiring for political roles. The initiative also includes advocacy for policy reforms that support women's political inclusion, aiming to increase the representation of women in leadership positions.

Grassroot, Women Led

Rural Women Peace Link is a grassroots, women-led organization that mobilizes, influences and promotes the participation of local women in peace building, governance and development through collaboration and networking with diverse actors. We focus on the grassroots women because they are largely marginalized in as far as decision making is concerned.

Lobbying for resources ensuring at least 15-30% budget allocations for women specific issues at the county levels is realized through empowerment, diversification of skills and knowledge development
